Essential Travel Information for International Attendees

Dear Guests and Attendees of the TC Awards 2024/All Yoruba Heroes Summit from outside Ghana, here are the important details you should be aware of to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience:

Travel and Entry Requirements

1. Visa Requirements: Check if a visa is required for entry into Ghana. Some nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival, while others need to apply in advance. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.

2. Vaccinations: A yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Ghana. Carry your yellow fever vaccination certificate as it may be checked upon arrival.

Flight and Transportation

3. Flights: Book flights to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, the capital city of Ghana.

4. Transportation: Arrange airport transfers in advance. Many hotels provide shuttle services, or you can book a private transfer. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Uber are also available.

Accommodation

5. Hotels: Choose accommodations close to the summit venue for convenience. It's advisable to book well in advance due to potential high demand during the event. We recommend staying at our recommended hotels for convenience.

Local Currency and Payments

6. Currency: The local currency is the Ghanaian Cedi (GHS). It's advisable to carry some local currency for small purchases. Major credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger shops.

7. ATMs: ATMs are available in major cities, but ensure your bank cards are enabled for international use.

Communication

8. Language: English is the official language in Ghana, making communication straightforward for most international visitors.

9. SIM Cards: Consider purchasing a local SIM card for mobile data and calls. These are available at the airport and in major cities.

Safety and Health

10. Health Precautions: Drink bottled or filtered water, avoid street food unless you are sure of its hygiene, and use insect repellent to prevent mosquito bites.

11. Emergency Services: Familiarize yourself with local emergency numbers and the location of the nearest hospital or clinic.

Cultural Etiquette

12. Respect Local Customs: Greet people politely, dress modestly, and respect local customs and traditions.

13. Business Hours: Typical business hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some businesses also operate on Saturdays.

Event-Specific Information

14. Event Schedule: Be aware of the event schedule and any specific sessions or activities you plan to attend. Arrive early to avoid missing any key segments.

15. Event Registration: Ensure you are registered for the event and have your registration confirmation details.

16. Networking: Bring business cards and be prepared to network with attendees from diverse backgrounds.

Miscellaneous

17. Weather: Ghana has a tropical climate. Prepare for warm weather, and pack accordingly with lightweight clothing and sun protection.

18. Electricity: Ghana uses a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. The plug types are D and G. Bring a suitable adapter if needed.

Being well-prepared will help ensure a successful and enjoyable experience at the TC Awards 2024: All Yoruba Heroes Summit.
